How you like them biscuits???

Woke up to a rare rainy southwest Texas morning. The grey dreary skies almost make it feel like February even though we’ll probably hit temps in the 70’s by the afternoon. I love days like today, when you don’t feel bad about staying in your pjs a little longer than necessary, when you have time to actually make breakfast for your family, when you have time to reflect on all the happenings in your life. It’s like God’s way of saying “slow down”.

My inspiration for today’s post came from sweet little Taylor. As he sat in the recliner watching cartoons, he not so politely yelled “I’m waiting on my breakfast! Hurry up, Momma, I’m hungry”. Because he is 5 and currently sick, I didn’t womp him like I would have on a normal day. Instead I told him I was making homemade biscuits and he needed to be patient. Because biscuits are a rare treat in our home and because I let him know our morning dining plan, he was content and even excited to wait.
As I go through my own season of waiting, I am beginning to realize I need to use this time for growth and preparation spiritually. This is not just a time for paperwork, planning pink nurseries, and blogging.  I found several Bible verses on waiting early Thursday morning when I couldn’t fall back asleep after giving my son breathing treatments then climbing back in bed to my husband’s bearlike snoring. One in particular stands out to me now:

“For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints. And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. For when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying, ‘I will surely bless you and I will surely multiply you .’ And so, having patiently waited, he obtained the promise.”

Hebrews 6:10-15

This reminds me, that not just with our adoption but in all areas of life, God keeps his promises. When you cannot count on anything else, you can count on that. I was also reminded yesterday by my pastor, Dr. Steve Branson, not to put my faith in man alone. While people are placed in our lives to help, man will disappoint and mocha frappuccinos won’t work for everyone. When things are falling in all around you, Jesus is and always will be there to pick you up. Remember to look to Him!

We won’t always know the dining plan, but we do know what Romans 8:28 tells us “that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” And those, my friends, are biscuits worth waiting for!!!! Happy Saturday, y’all!

Touch the Sky is working to support the adoption of a girl who was previously advocated by the name Tamarix. She is a bright, beautiful 12 year old little girl from Xi'an China who is deaf. She loves to draw and the orphanage director says she often draws picture of a family. She very much wants to be adopted and wants a family desperately.  Go to their page to learn how you can donate or buy a t-shirt/tote bag to support a grant that will allow a family to bring her home.

Those are mine! I was so proud of them I had to take a picture (even before I thought to use them in my blog).
