Lizzie’s Wish Days 1 & 2
Y’all, this place is amazing. Give Kids The World is a very special resort made especially for “wish” families. I have never experienced anything like it. Every single person here has been run through the ringer, on multiple occasions. Every single parent here knows what it is to watch their child suffer in unimaginable ways. Every single sibling here has seen their brother or sister hurt and their parents helplessly struggle through the darkest days of their lives, all while keeping a brave face themselves. Every single wish child here has stared death in the eyes and has either conquered it or still fights everyday. Every. Single. Child. Oh my gosh, I keep tearing up just thinking about it.
When you go on a cruise or typical all inclusive vacation the food is plentiful and pretty to look at, but generally tastes like styrofoam. Not at Give Kids The World. I’m telling you, it’s like they gathered all of grandma’s best recipes and figured out how to mass produce it here. It’s so good!! And, there are always volunteers ready to carry your tray, there’s no balancing food while figuring out who will push the wheelchair or carry your kiddo’s tray. Everything here is handicap accessible. Pool, rides, showers, horse back riding, etc! It’s all family friendly and aimed at giving kids a world where they don’t have to sit out or be different. They can even have ice cream for breakfast if they want. Lizzie had orange sherbet this morning! Grandma got her some because she loved it so much the night before.
I seriously am humbled just to be here. And it’s not even been a full two days! People of all faiths, races, nationalities, and diagnosis are here, celebrating life together. We are all different but all the same. There’s no staring, there’s no need to explain “why does she have that tube on her”. These precious little ones are normal here and we parents can all breath easier. There’s no need to even leave the resort.
But, we did leave today and Lizzie had her first experience at the Magic Kingdom. Oh my goodness, she loved it. We did not realize the new Snow White ride was a roller coaster and broke in our barely-tall-enough-cardiac-pulmonary-baby-girl into the life of amusement parks with big brothers right off the bat. She thought it was fantastic. Scared me to death! I’m including a few highlight pictures of her big day. Tomorrow morning she gets her wish to meet Belle granted. She’s going to be so excited!
Again, thank you all for your love and support! If you are looking for a wonderful organization or two to donate to, I can testify for Make A Wish and Give Kids The World. There’s really no way to adequately explain what this is doing for our family and so many others here.

Touch the Sky is working to support the adoption of a girl who was previously advocated by the name Tamarix. She is a bright, beautiful 12 year old little girl from Xi'an China who is deaf. She loves to draw and the orphanage director says she often draws picture of a family. She very much wants to be adopted and wants a family desperately. Go to their page to learn how you can donate or buy a t-shirt/tote bag to support a grant that will allow a family to bring her home.
