Oh!!!! My heart rejoices with the news that we have been granted pre-approval for our daughter! It gives me the greatest pleasure to introduce Miss Susan Elizabeth Fowler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are so thrilled to be able to share the news with the world! The second I published my earlier rambling post, the phone rang! Pre- Approval! For those wondering, PA is the acronym of choice for this most recent milestone.
So here’s our story:
A few weeks ago we asked to review the file of a little girl named “Cullen”. While you have the file you are given two weeks to determine “yes or no”. You think this would be easy, but keep in mind when we started the process we said we were willing to adopt a baby with mild correctable special needs. This child is now almost 27 months old with major cardiac defects requiring open heart surgeries, amongst other procedures, and the only information we have on her is a year old. We consulted several doctors and prayed without ceasing for the strength to say yes or the courage to say no. God gave us so much more than that though! He gave me a yearning for this precious angel, He gave Josh the wisdom to say to me “it does not matter how sick she is, even if we’re only given a year with her, then we will do all we can for her and love her for as long as we can”. Beautiful sentiment from a man of not so many words.
During this time we realized that adopting means so much more than just getting a cute “healthy” little baby girl who’s nursery we get to paint pink and buy pretty dresses for. God has changed our hearts and opened our eyes to the beauty of this child, who is older than we first “wanted” and “sicker” than we originally thought we could handle. We love her already and want nothing more than to bring her home as soon as possible.
Don’t get me wrong, while she is very little for her age and needs a total overhaul of her heart, we’re counting on a fun, active, and happy life for our baby girl! I believe this little lady is a fighter! You can see she’s feisty just from her picture, look at those eyes! She’ll fit right in with her rowdy big brothers, I have no doubt!
AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! I’m so excited! I love you so much, baby girl! Momma and Daddy are doing all we can to get to you as soon as we can (sadly, unless the process is expedited because of her medical condition, it may be 5-6 months before we can go to China to get her). More waiting, but at least now I know who I am waiting for and I know without a shadow of a doubt it is all in God’s perfect timing!
