When I was pregnant with my youngest son we took Luke to the Build A Bear Workshop so he could make his baby brother a gift. I still remember how proud Luke was to bring the bear to Taylor at the hospital. Taylor has slept with it everyday since. We thought this would be something fun for the boys to do for their little sister. Doing it on Mother’s Day made it even more special for me.
Seeing Taylor get excited about being a big brother melts my heart, he actually gave us the idea to go. Luke showed Taylor the ropes, as he is an old pro, and was thrilled to be making a gift for his newest baby. Jacob, true to teenage fashion, stood to the side and tried to pretend he didn’t know us, but only for a little bit. I think he secretly had a good time and I even heard him giving Taylor a few pointers at the grooming station. It’s so fun being on the parental side of child embarrassment, I love that I have many more years to perfect the art!
I love my babies so much! I love their sweet hearts! I cannot wait to give Susan Elizabeth the bear her big brothers so lovingly made her. Watching my little “barbarians” (Josh included) making room for a little softness in our rough and tumbly world is so touching to this momma. Oh, by the way, they named her “Sissy Bear” and picked out a cute little pink tutu for her. Everything seems so surreal! The waiting is agony but I’m reminded we’re working on God’s timeline, not our own!
